A Sugary Tale of Enjoying The Lord’s Benefits

A Sugary Tale of Enjoying The Lord's Benefits -christyfitzwater.com

There are the great cathedrals of Europe and then there is Kalispell Krispy Kreme. My nephews were awake early on the morning I was tending to them, so I played the aunt and asked if they wanted to make a run for donuts before school. (I am selfless.)

“Two glazed, one chocolate, and one sugar, please,” I asked the very patient donut lady, who held open that box for a good five minutes while little boys vacillated between flavors.

We sat on high stools and ate the still-warm confections, licked our fingers clean, complained about the small size of our donuts, and then went to watch the donut conveyor.

Best part: The frosting pouring down over the freshly baked and fried rounds of dough.

Pity my friends on whole 30.

Donuts moved slowly under the frostingfall –the excess icing dripping down into a metal vat. The boys and I speculated where that extra frosting would go. Back up a tube, to pour over the donuts again and again?

Just like the benefits of God, I thought to myself. Love and grace and peace pouring over me, with a vat full of leftovers to cover the next guy.

In Psalm 145:7,8,9 (NIV) David sings of the Lord’s abundant goodness.

The LORD is gracious

compassionate

slow to anger

great in faithful love

good to everyone.

And we ride the conveyor underneath the steady stream of God’s goodness.

Makes a person’s soul cry out for a cold glass of milk.
