“Any fun plans this summer?” a friend just asked me.

Umm, what constitutes fun? Here are my ideas:

Ten Simple Ways to Have A Really Good Summer

Watch the sprinklers with someone you love. I’ve seen the Bellagio waters in Vegas, and they’ve got nothin’ on sprinklers.

Learn a new bird sound. When we were staying at my brother-in-law’s for a week, I woke up in the morning to a strange new bird sound I’d never heard before. I was brave enough to try to make the sound for the guys later on, and they immediately said, “Pheasant!”

Spend more money than necessary on frozen confections.

Plant something and watch it grow. (Or watch your husband get a kick out of seeing his tomatoes grow.) Think about what God is growing in your soul.

Smell the air. Mmm. Smell the growing things? (Uh, sorry if you live in a city. Go smell the air in a park!)

Watch one rainstorm for a really long time. (Or watch your husband get a kick out of watching a rain storm.)

Make up excuses to go to the best mom-n-pop plant nursery in town. Look at the pretty flowers.

Do something to get a sunburn on your nose.

Let someone give you a zucchini from their garden. (My momma always said, “Lock your car at church in the summer, or someone’s bound to put a zucchini in it!)

Number Ten: Take a long walk and talk to God. Then come home and have a fudgsicle.

So yes, yes I have lots of fun plans this summer.

What little something will you do, to enjoy the summer God made?
